The Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the falcon god Horus, is one of the most remarkably preserved ancient Egyptian temples,

  • Its exceptional state of preservation is largely due to it having been buried under sand and Nile silt for centuries.
  • This burial protected it from much of the damage that other temples suffered.

Following that you will return to your cruise to enjoy a drink on the sun deck as the cruise sails all the way to Kom Ombo City.

Following your arrival to Kom Ombo, you will visit the local temple

The Temple of Kom Ombo is a truly unique and fascinating ancient Egyptian site.

What sets Kom Ombo apart is its dedication to two distinct deities: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder (Haroeris), the falcon god, This "double temple" design is reflected in its symmetrical layout, with two sets of everything: entrances, courtyards, colonnades, and sanctuaries.

  • The site consists of two massive rock-cut temples: the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Small Temple of Hathor and Nefertari.
  • They were built during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC.                                       One of the most remarkable feats associated with Abu Simbel is its relocation. In the 1960s, with the construction of the Aswan High Dam, the rising waters of Lake Nasser threatened to submerge the temples, An international effort led by UNESCO successfully dismantled and relocated the temples to higher ground, a monumental engineering achievement.
